How are you keeping things frugal today?

Weather words for today are rainy and warm. We will be in the 70s today with possible thunderstorms, then plunge back below freezing during the weekend. “Roller coaster.” It will be a stay-at-home day for me, but there will be money $pent for bills. Keeping it as frugal as possible by not leaving home and staying away from online stores. Just taking care of the regular daily to-do list and continuing on my mission to downsize the “stuff” in my life. For supper we will have steaks and veggie fried rice. I hope you all have a fabulously frugal Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Happy Friday to All. Currently 64 degrees and staying warm today with rain until this evening then, as Ann said, the weather roller coaster arrives.

Spending money to save money - DH had to put a few supplies on the credit card to make some adjustments to the heating unit to the upstairs, including more insulation. If that keeps the drain pipes from freezing up then it will be money well spent. Trying to offset the expenditures by continuing to eat out of the freezer and pantry. Yesterday DH had the leftover Polish sausage. I made a nice batch of vegetarian Moroccan stew over Israeli couscous. There is more than enough left for me to have today. Will probably make DH some tuna burgers.

One more load of laundry to finish the king size sheets we used during the retreat. Our washer is on the smaller side so it is taking awhile to get everything done when mixed with our regular laundry. Too wet/damp to hang outside, so I have been semi drying everything and then hanging in various places around the house.

Computer has been working fine and the bills got paid on time (very thankful). Not sure what was going on with that. Everyone have a wonderful and Frugal day, and stay safe and warm.

Later this morning I have to make the trip to my parents house to help my mom take dad to the Dr. My BFF will stay with the grandkids. Dinner will be burgers.

33 this morning with a high of 34. The forecast was for 3-6 inches by 5 tonight, but I shoveled 6 inches last night and another 3 inches of compacted heavy snow this morning. It took DH an hour and a half to blow out the driveway. No anticipated spending today. May not go anywhere other than the post office, if we go there. Have pork chops thawing for dinner. I hope everyone has a great day. Jill

Cloudy with early fog that has now shifted, with a high of 48.

I did some grocery shopping this morning so that should see me through next week - I hope. I have a habit of scribbling down a menu plan for the week and then losing the bit of paper it was on, so I have now copied it out onto the memo board in the kitchen.

I bought some cable management stuff to help tame the cable jungle in my living room. I need to have a couple of extra electric sockets installed but in the meantime at least I have minimised the risk of tripping over loose wires.

My email inbox is still being bombarded by so-called sales offers on a whole variety of stuff. I think the retailers must be desperate for business. I am not buying any new clothing until the summer - I have plenty to see me through the winter.

    TGIF all,

Hope everyone is well. It's been a long week and so glad the weekend is here. It's also a 3 day weekend. I have a king size quilt on the frame so I will use my day off from the day job on Monday to finish it.

Looks like we are having a barbecue tomorrow evening. The weather is supposed to be nice. A friend of DH's is dating someone new and wants to introduce us so he said he'd buy the meat if DH would grill it.

BFF is stuck at her office without a car. Offered to buy my lunch if I would come pick her up. She's a sales rep. so she gets reimbursed for my lunch but it's still a free lunch for me. I brought leftovers to eat at my desk but I will take those home and DH and I can eat them for supper.

I'd better get back to work. Still playing catch up from the office being closed for 2 weeks.

    Have a great Friday y'all.

    Good morning to all.
Up very early this morning (5 a.m.) to commute to dd. Expensive week with gas, more driving. Next week I need to find a new family doctor and get a appointment for a meet & greet because this insurance needs a referral for all specialist. I already have a 6 month check up with my endocrinologist in March & want to make sure I'm all set as I may need another biopsy (ugh) which is freaky uncomfortable as they insert needles into my neck without numbing, so I'm hoping it won't be necessary. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
Take care and be kind to yourself. Deb in az

Rain and foggy at my house. Temp up to 50. Im working couple of hours as a sub today. It is for an after school program. Hope to get more hours for the next few weeks. Will add some extra money to the budget.

This evening we had a birthday party for a grandaughter. It is a potluck. I am thawing some goulash, will top with chees and put in the oven. Easy dish to bring.

    Hope for no spending today.

I'm shooting for a "no spend"...though it will mean a VERY creative lunch...carrots, sardines, hot sauce and garlic cloves...hmmm...

I found a receipt that shows I did spend 1$ last sunday. I had thought it was a "no spend" but it wasn't so now I need to fix my records and go for another nospend.

I've got movies from the library to enjoy this weekend, am taking home my office supply food, the dregs, to eat over the weekend so I can freshen up and refocus. And, I hope to finish waxing an old suede jacket and turning it into a new hipster waterproof (or waterresistent) jacket. I got the first layer on, let it cure for a week and if I can get the 2nd layer on, I can start testing it.

Babs- you are warmer than we are! We have a temp of 31 with wind chill at 22.
DH has the first symptoms of this nasty flu so our dr has called in some meds for him. The pharmacy is COMPLETELY out but was expecting to have his Rx filled by 2.
I have "leftovers" soup in the crockpot and will make cornbread to go with it later.
There should only be money out for the RX's today unless I get some bills in the mail,, but the money is put back for them.
We may be colder than we are used to, but at least no ice or snow.

Hi all, started today with the window open in the low 60s now ice and snow. Did get a lot of work done here today after being sick, all 2018 paper work files and 2017 files ready for taxes, top cleaned and mopped bathrooms. Then paid bills so money out there, my cousin called who lives in DH and mine old house, no rent just pay bills, he let all the pipes freeze and all the pipes are broken-he even let the shower and toilet freeze and not pipes the true things even the kitchen sink is cracked. He says he will get it fixed but who knows.

Susan- Sorry about your home! I hope it gets fixed.
Jill- My back would be hurting me with all of that snow!

Busy day- Dropped off DS2's scholarship papers, went to Whole Foods to get small bags of bulk wild rice for the turkey & rice soup in the crock pot, made a apple pie, and spent 5 hours with DS2 at a college so he could speak to departments about what they offer/careers/labs, etc....It was nice but very long. We'll do it again at another school to get more in-depth info.

DH and DS2 are watching a movie. No idea what it is but we're waiting for a new Neflix one.

Yesterday had leftovers for lunch and supper. Hit a thrift store on the way back from a job and picked up two bowls for Christmas gifts for next year. (Yep, already starting!)
