Dumping a Timeshare

  • Gary,
I am stuck in a timeshare. The timeshare itself is paid for, although there are past due maintenance fees on it. I have tried to just deed it back to the company, with no success. Any suggestions?

    Dear CS,
You're not alone. It seems that many would like to get out from under a timeshare. Our feed from Bankrate has an articleGary, I am stuck in a timeshare. It seems that many would like to get out from under a timeshare. Our feed from Bankrate has an article "How to Get Rid of a Timeshare" . I've read about firms that claim that they can break the contract without any penalty to your credit score. But since your's is already paid for that probably won't help. You'll probably need to search high and low for a buyer. One positive, if you sell for a loss (likely), you can deduct the loss on your taxes.

Perhaps one of our readers has an option.
